Fuming, Minthe goes into the Underworld Corp to confront Hades. She internally curses the royals and “fish bish”, referring to Thetis. She shoves a random Underworld being on her way and rudely snatches Sully the Bank Snake’s mascot head. The two ladies at the front desk wondered who she is, as she stomps her way through Underworld Corp.

Minthe steals an employee’s card to gain access to the elevator and effortlessly makes her way to Hades’ office, much to his current assistant’s dismay.

Unperturbed, Hades asks Minthe if she was an underworld nymph, to which she replies, “Yes.” He tells her she’s not exactly allowed to be in the office, but Minthe said that it was pretty easy to get in.

“It’s you and your brothers’ fault! Your brother is clearly an asshole!”

Minthe

Meanwhile, Hades is fixing his current work predicament. He looks thoroughly tired and stressed.

As he finished working to avoid a work-related crisis, Minthe barges into his office, with his current assistant trailing after her, telling her she’s not allowed to go in. She immediately yells at Hades, saying that because of him, she got accused of stealing at work, was no longer getting paid for the job, and therefore, was about to get evicted because of Hades and his brothers.

Hades offers Minthe a job since he no longer has her hat. The hat is shown to be currently on Cerberus. He asks if she can stop others from coming into the office. Minthe says yes. Upon hearing this, his assistant says that there are no openings available. Hades’ solution to this is to fire his current assistant on the spot.

The assistant marches off and tells Hades he is an asshole.

Back to the present, Thetis’ knock on Minthe’s car window snaps her out of her thoughts. She diverts her attention to Thanatos and Daphne walking together towards the Olympus Gym.

CONTRIBUTOR INSIGHTS AND NOTES:

  • Hades offers Minthe a job after asking her if she could keep others from coming in. This is a nod to Episode 39, when Minthe tries to prohibit Persephone from seeing Hades. However, Hades himself says in Episode 107 that he will never turn down an impromptu visit from the Goddess of Spring, making Persephone an exception.

  • Another analysis from this is that Minthe’s job is to literally keep beings away from Hades. It’s an indication of how their toxic relationship dynamic is established: Minthe has full control over Hades’ work and personal life. She gets to decide his schedule, who gets to see him, etc.

  • Classicism is a recurring theme in the world of Lore Olympus. Hades’ nickname for Minthe, “Tadpole”, seemed like a term of endearment in Episode 36. It holds a different meaning when he says it in this episode.
