Episode 149: Dead Woman Walking

At 6:30 am, Minthe waits in a gym parking lot for Thetis, who is elsewhere with Zeus. She bemoans the end of her relationship with Hades, thinking that he is only mad at her, and if she got him alone she could make things work out. She thinks that they’ve had their “ups and downs”, but their relationship is never over.
She remembers back to the first day they met. Minthe is shown to be living in a shabby apartment, a sharp contrast to the apartment gifted to her by Hades, the one she currently lives in. Her landlord knocks on her door, warning her of eviction if she is unable to pay her rent.
Desperate for cash, so she went back to an old modeling job. The agent wasn’t pleased to see her and says that the last time they saw each other, Minthe yelled at Ginger, his bird.

“Minthe, you’re a good looking girl. But your attitude stinks.”
Finding herself in a skimpy bathing suit at a car show, she meets Thetis who is manipulating another assistant into leaving so she can spend time with Zeus and his brothers alone.
Zeus and Poseidon show up and decide to prank Hades by stealing Minthe’s baseball cap and shoving it on his head. As everyone laughs, Hades gets upset and leaves.
After the car show, Minthe is told she won’t be paid because she never returned the hat. Angry, she marches off determined to have a word with the King of the Underworld.

CONTRIBUTOR INSIGHTS AND NOTES:
Upon our initial glimpse of Thetis and Minthe’s friendship in Season 1, we assumed that Thetis has influenced Minthe’s horrible disposition and behavior. In this episode, we learn that even prior to meeting the manipulative and conniving Thetis, Minthe already has a horrible attitude and doesn’t treat everyone around her well. She doesn’t seem to have any positive relationships with the beings in her life. Her toxic friendship with Thetis only amplifies her negativity, and they bring out the worst in each other.
In this episode, Zeus is being his usual asshole self, teasing and embarrassing his brother, who is clearly not having it. He also seems to have a very low opinion of nymphs (or anyone around him for that matter), instantly objectifying Minthe upon seeing her.
Classicism is a recurring theme in the world of Lore Olympus. We saw how beings, no matter what realm, heavily sexualize nymphs.
