Hades asks Persephone if she is angry with him. Highly agitated, she is about to respond when she notices the pomelia flower that she gave him on his desk. Suddenly calmed by this she tells not angry at him but she is upset with him. The two share a tender moment as Hades wipes away her tears, only to be interrupted by an incensed Ares who wants them to fight.
Persephone responds that she does not do things that way, and that she feels dizzy. Hades, visibly disturbed by Persephone’s exhausted demeanour, takes her in his arms and cradles her head to his chest. Eyes glowing red, Hades demands to know if Ares used his powers on her. Ares confesses that he did and Hades reprimands him because Persephone is too young to manage his power. Ares admits that he just wanted to get a rise out of her. Irritated by Ares’ behaviour and disregard for Persephone’s safety, Hades chides Ares’ behaviour and teleports himself and Persephone to his secret space.
Persephone lands on a couch and searches for Hades, who is getting her a glass of water. Sitting down beside her, he gives her the glass of water and the muse about Hades’ secret space. Standing in front of a mirror asks if Hades has changed her outfit as she is no longer wearing her coffee-stained dress from earlier, and then panics when she thinks Hades has seen her naked. Equally panicked by the accusation Hades tells her that it is just an illusion, and that he thought she would prefer a dress that wasn’t coffee stained. He offers to have the dress made for her. Persephone places her hands on his and encourages him to talk to her. Hades suggests they talk over lunch. Initially, dismissive of the idea, Persephone changes her mind when her stomach growls at the mention of lunch.
Sitting comfortably at the table, a clearly despondent Hades asks why she wants to talk to him. Persephone informs him that she wants to know whether there is any truth to the allegations that Hades took the reporter’s eye to which he replies that it is true and that the reporter was deserving of this punishment for disrespecting the goddess.
“He’s a horrible man who disrespected you and put your reputation at risk. A lesson needed to be taught.”
Hades
Displeased by his response, Persephone accuses Hades of doing this to benefit his own interests, suggesting that perhaps it was a course of action designed to reinforce his reputation as the fearsome King of the Underworld. Recognising some truth in her statement, Hades tells Persephone that he thought she would be pleased. She reprimands him and asks him whether she has ever given him that impression. Persephone then asks if he considered the effect it would have on her reputation, and discloses that she is trying to distance herself from acts of wrath before back-peddling on her comment before redirecting the conversation back towards his reputation. She then describes a scenario wherein she frees shades from the Underworld, ultimately undermining his authority as King. She then asks that she be included in things that directly involve her.
Thinking on what she had asked, Hades reaches out and takes her hand in his, and apologises for hurting her. Persephone thanks him for his apology but states that she also owes him an apology. Hades is obviously confused by this.
The Dread Queen has arrived, and Kronos is not prepared.
