Flashback to the day of the Panathenaea, four days prior.

Minthe is at work. She decides she needs a smoke break, but since she doesn’t have a lighter, she goes in Hades’ office, assuming he must have one in his coat pocket. Instead, she finds a ring box.

This sends Minthe into a panic. She’s in her apartment, staring at the Panathenea invite that is placed on her fridge. She muses that she and Hades agreed they are not relationship material, and she adds that their relationship is not even on Fatesbook.

Minthe thinks about her insecurities, including the pressure that comes with being a Queen and not knowing how to do diplomatic shit.

“I thought we were supposed to be messed up together? And now you get to be all normal and well adjusted with her?”

Present

Minthe arrives home from work. Persephone has been introduced as the new intern, and she gets frustrated seeing a box of Barley Mother cereal on her kitchen counter. She feels taunted by the logo, as it is Persephone’s smiling face.

She tries to tell herself that even if Hades will want to date Persephone, that doesn’t mean what they have is over. But she also thinks that perhaps Persephone would like Hades to herself.

She goes to Hades’ house, standing in the rain. Hades opens the door. She yells and says she knows she messed up. She places the blame on Hades and says he sees her as someone who is better than who she actually is.

Hades doesn’t say anything. He pulls her towards him and hugs her, despite Minthe struggling and almost hurting him physically. She yells at him to stop being nice to her. Exhausted, she says that she thought they were supposed to be messed up together. She doesn’t know what she has with Hades, but she’s not ready for it to be over. She begs Hades not to leave her behind.
