Episode 106: Business as Usual
Editor: Bre BoswellReleased: 12 April 2020Hades decides to go to work rather than go home after the breakup. Cerberus and the new puppy are cozily waiting for him in the car. He decides to bring her with him to his office. Once in his office, Hades starts answering his 3,000 emails as the puppy gives him sweet comfort. She’s a sweet little bit of comfort to him as he begins to answer his 3,000 emails. We see coffee cups pile up on his desk as he finally stops at 6 am. He takes a break to have a quick swim before work.
Hades exchanges greetings with Alecto as he walks by on his way to the locker room and pool. There’s a splash and Persephone calls out to Hades and she swims over to greet him. She was nervous for her first day of work and she wanted to unwind with some pool time to relax. Little lily pads pop up around her as they speak, giving away her excitement to see him. She asks if he’s going to go swimming too, but he declines, saying the pool isn’t big enough and he’s trying to respect her boundaries.
“Don’t be nervous about today. You’ll do great.”
Hades
Hecate introduces Persephone to her work area and gives her the assigned scrolls for the day. Persephone is not familiar with their system but doesn’t say anything as Hecate is so confident in her abilities. Hecate has to run off but leaves her with the user guide and advises her that Thanatos is available if she has any questions. Persephone tries to introduce herself formally to Thanatos, but he shuts her down. When she approaches him to ask a question, he implies that she’s not qualified for the job by asking questions. She begins to take notes on the scrolls and the process must be taking longer than it should as Hecate stops by saying that normally the workload is usually completed at that time, but again, Hecate is confident Persephone will catch up.
Persephone asks if Hades is free as she would like to return something to him. Hecate is cheerful and tells her she can go to his office. Persephone sees Minthe at the reception desk and their meeting is tense but ultimately Minthe allows her to go right into his office.
Hades is finishing up his meeting with Hermes who has a bunch of balloons tied to his wrist. When Hades asks what they’re for, Hemes is surprised Hades doesn’t realize that today is a special day.
Persephone comes up the stairs into Hades’ office and Hermes stuns them both by shouting “Happy Birthday!”
