Episode 105: Goodbye
Editor: Bre Boswell
Released: 5 April 2020
Minthe asks Hades if he loves Persephone and while his inner, very honest, child is screaming yes, he can only respond, “As much as you can love someone you’ve only known for two weeks…”. Minthe tells him it’s bullshit and he quips back that she asked a bullshit question.
We see the visual metaphor of Minthe melting as she ruthlessly begins picking at Hades’ insecurities again. She pries at his fear of not being able to keep a goddess-like Persephone interested in him, as she’ll eventually become disappointed by what he’s really like. Minthe says he and her are the same, implying that they are both broken.
“It won’t work. (..) You and Miss Perfect.”
Minthe
But there is a major difference separating the two as Hades is working with a therapist to begin a recovery phase whereas Minthe is not putting forth any effort in her own growth. Hades has found some inner resolve and shoulders the fear of the possibility of things ending with Persephone. Even if things don't work out with her, what he has with Minthe is over. As he gathers his things from the apartment, Minthe asks if he’s kicking her out and firing her, revealing her chief concerns in potential consequences for her actions. Hades is a gentleman and lets her keep the apartment as it was a gift. He also allows Minthe to return to work as long as she can show that her apology actually meant something.
“I don’t know what will happen with Persephone. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won’t. Maybe I’ll meet someone new. Maybe I might simply be alone. What I do know is that we are done. And I’m getting. my clothes.”
Hades
After he leaves, Minthe is continuing to meltdown in the shower but runs to answer the door when she hears a knock. She assumes it’s Hades but she drops her seductive attitude when she realizes it’s only Thetis and Thanatos. They have stopped by because Thanatos has found incriminating evidence about Persephone.
The Dread Queen has arrived, and Kronos is not prepared.
