Episode 104: Not Enough

Editor: Bre Boswell
Released: 29 March 2020

The fight in episode 103 between Minthe and Thetis continues in episode 104. The two nymphs are having a meltdown fight and begin to look more drenched as they argue in the club. Thetis calls Minthe a “mud-sucking low-class river nymph” and Minthe walks away. She returns back to her apartment, turns off her phone, and ignores the world. Thanatos stops by after work, he’s still wearing his Punishment Shirt, and he’s brought her some food. Everyone clearly knows what’s happened and he’s trying to be a supportive friend.

The days pass and now it’s Monday. Minthe is smoking on a balcony and gets a text from Hades. She invites him over to talk. The panel that shows Hades’ arrival at the apartment is ominous. Half the building is doused in red light, the other blue, and it feels like a warning sign and a crossroads. He uses his key and comes out to meet her on the balcony. He asks her how she’s doing but he apologizes for the stupid question when her response is to exhale cigarette smoke. She offers him a cigarette, but he declines as he’s trying to cut back. This rejection frustrates Minthe as she sees it for what it is; Hades trying to get his life in order and be healthier after meeting Persephone. We also see this in how he declined the drink from Hera.

“I want to feel loved and safe everyday. Not sometimes. All the time.”

Hades

Minthe asks him if they are breaking up and Hades tells her “Yes.” She’s stunned. This is a place they have been before but the script is unfamiliar. She doesn’t want to break up with him and wants to try again. Hades is kind and gentle with her, telling her that they tried so many times and being with him doesn’t make her happy. Minthe offers up an apology before Hades can continue the breakup discussion. He tells her he appreciates her apology but he understands that he is not the right person to help her deal with her issues. When he tells her that she needs to take responsibility for herself but this upsets her because in her mind she is as she’s apologized. Hades tells her that he doesn’t want to be messed up, he wants to become healthier and feel safe and loved all the time. Minthe is not happy as her ability to control Hades is now gone. Her apologies, that were probably enough in the past, are no longer effective at resolving the situation. He is ready to move on and she asks him if it’s because of Persephone. “Do you love her?”
