Episode 42: The Way She Looked at Me

After the incident at Tower 4, Hades has brought Persephone back to his office and she is using the shower in his executive bathroom to warm up. She feels weird about her crush, but decides it’s ok and to just enjoy looking at his dorky face for the time being. Waiting on Persephone in his office, Hades is holding a scrap of her coat and muses that every time she’s around him, she gets hurt. As he begins to think about the way she looked at him, he stops and calls himself an idiot. It wouldn’t be fair of him to ruin her with his emotional bullshit.

Cerberus pushes his way into the bathroom to be with Persephone, giving Hades a flash of her in her underthings. Hades tells his reflection to “get your shit together.”

Persephone comes out of the bathroom and Hades has more internal struggle as he is attracted to how she looks in her dress. She becomes self-conscious about her hair as Hades is just staring at her while internally moaning. He offers her a seat and gives her a lovely diamond comb for her hair. He encourages her to take it after she mentions she’s not sure she should have something like it.

*Note: we don’t see Persephone wear much jewelry and her brooch on her coat, while sentimental, is just costume jewelry.*

“They felt threatened by you since they’re dead, and you’re a fertility goddess.”
Hades

Hades tells her that she had found her way into Tartarus, where the more problematic shades are kept. They are normally dormant, but they felt threatened by her as she’s a fertility goddess. Persephone is shocked he thinks she’s a fertility goddess and denies it, saying her mother would have told her if she was.

Hades is embarrassed and apologizes. Persephone hands Hades the paperwork from Hera, explaining why she came, but he tells her that Hera’s request is out of the question.
