In the Underworld, Hades is dropping off Russel and Cordon Bleu at doggie daycare. He is in the middle of instructing the being behind the counter. that Russel must have his ear drops at precisely 2PM when he spots Aphrodite outside, walking and talking with a nymph.
“I want you to tell me something. Did you show her the very best of you? When she was in your realm, in your care, did you show her the best you could be?”
Aphrodite
The nymph, Ampelus, stops in her tracks, noticing that a man is staring at them, and that he looks angry.
When Aphrodite sees that it’s Hades, she grabs Ampelus and starts to run as he begins chasing after them. Aphrodite explains that Hades is upset with her because she played a prank on him. They manage to make it into their car, but Hades emerges in the backseat.
As Hades and Aphrodite talk, Hades gets clarification that she and Eros were the ones to put Persephone in his car, because of what he said at the party. Aphrodite says that Hades embarrassed her, and that it was about respect. Hades begins stammering as he tells Aphrodite that Persephone was upset and could have gotten sick. Aphrodite points out that it is interesting that he is stuttering when talking about Persephone, something which he hasn’t done in a very long time, and calls him “Aidoneus.” Hades angrily tells her not to use that name. He shares with Aphrodite that he doesn’t understand his feelings, but he doesn’t want Persephone to get hurt and he would appreciate it if Aphrodite left her alone. Aphrodite says she will, but only if Hades takes back what he said about Persephone being more beautiful than her. He says that he could, but it would be a lie.
Aphrodite then asks if Hades showed Persephone the very best he could be. Aphrodite tells him that while he did make her angry that night, he now can’t say that she hasn’t done him any favors. She also asks him not to be too mad at Eros, as she is currently trying to teach him a lesson. Hades asks if it has to do with the fact that she is disguising a mortal as a nymph (revealing that Ampelus is Psyche), since it is illegal to hide a mortal in Olympus. She asks if he is going to tell Zeus, but Hades says he won’t, because it’s none of his business, and he only cares about dead mortals anyway.
The Dread Queen has arrived, and Kronos is not prepared.
