Episode 01: Stag, You're It
Editor: Bekah Caden
Released: 4 March 2018
Characters: Minthe, Hades, Artemis, Persephone
Hades is in his car, on the way to the Panathanea. He texts his date, a red nymph named Minthe, and asks her where she is. Minthe laughs and discards her phone. Hades calls her and tells her she is late, to which she responds by asking if he got her the purse she wanted. Hades replies that he did, but wants to know if she is coming with him to the Panathenea. Minthe replies that she is not coming, as she does not want to be seen with him. She further criticizes him by adding that despite all the fine things, he will always reek of death.
Hades enters the Panathenea, alone and embarrassed. He throws the bouquet of flowers on the ground that he got for Minthe.
“Hades, all the fine suits in the world…won’t change the fact that you stink of death.”
Minthe
He runs into Hera, Queen of the Gods and Goddess of Marriage. Hera tries to comfort Hades by claiming that nobody will notice that he doesn’t have a date.
Zeus, Hades’ brother and King of the Gods, appears and canoodles with Hera, lavishly doting on her. When Zeus sees Hades, he immediately asks where Hades’ date is, confirming the latter’s insecurities.
At Artemis’ home, she and Persephone are getting ready to also attend the party. When Persephone walks out in an ancient Greek dress, Artemis offers to lend her something to wear, since Persephone does not have much modern clothing with her. Persephone thanks her and tells her she’s a lifesaver.
Fun Facts & Easter Eggs
Persephone mentions how she thinks Hades smells — like forest fire in winter, a scent that is comforting to her. This is in sharp contrast to how Minthe described that Hades reeks of death.
A head of a stag is found in Artemis’ bedroom. In mythology, the stag is an animal sacred to Artemis. In some versions, the stag is said to be one of the first animals the Goddess of the Hunt has captured.
