Persephone and Hades work in his office when he receives a video call from Zeus and some Olympians - Hera, Athena, Hermes, Poseidon, Artemis, Ares, and Aphrodite. Hestia is also listening in.

Zeus demands Persephone face justice. Hades refuses to turn her in, and she cites treaty language and says he’d need an extradition. After an angry outburst, Hades mutes the line and Persephone leaves the call. He and Zeus exchange a heated argument. Zeus says that Persephone is only using Hades, and Hades hangs up.

“Sometimes I think the Olympians share a brain cell.”

The Olympians on the line didn’t have much to say and certainly didn’t seem to be on Zeus’ side. Hestia told her not to worry about the scholarship, Hera openly defied him in fashion choice and words, and Ares invited her out on future rampages.

Back in Hades’ guest room, Persephone decides to take a bath and wanders the house until she finds a huge room with dark bath water (not his swimming pool). After getting in, she gets bored and pats the ground so Hades appears. She asks him to get in the pool, but he seems reluctant.

CONTRIBUTOR’S NOTES & INSIGHTS:

  • Public baths were quite common in Ancient Greece. Bathing was considered a social event that even wealthy people, who have their own special chambers devoted to bathing, still frequent public baths.

  • Persephone seems to be quite fond of skinny dipping. In Episode 50, there is a brief flashback of Hermes and Persephone bathing together in the river.
