How long have you been doing cosplay?
I have been cosplaying for 10 years. I started when I was 14 years old. My first official cosplay ever was Himotou! Umaru-Chan: Umaru Doma, my first unofficial was Rin from Inuyasha. I was first interested in cosplay when they began playing the classics on Toonami: Inuyasha, Bleach, Cowboy Bebop etc. I wanted to be those characters because I was so fascinated by their fictional situations and powers. So, I attempted to dress, act, and do my makeup like them. Eventually I got better and better!
Who is your favorite Lore Olympus character to cosplay?
My favorite character I have cosplayed so far was Aphrodite. Purple is my favorite color so she was the one I had the most fun with!
Tell us your Lore Olympus story.
One of my closest friends is a main admin on the Lore Olympus Facebook Page and seeing her post about it I was like, “I kinda wanna read it” from chapter 1 I was hooked! I knew I just had to try out all these colorful characters! Now, here we are!
What is the most memorable cosplay?
I would have to say Mera from Aquaman, because I got to meet Jason Mamoa!
What other fandoms are you in? What’s special about the Lore Olympus fandom?
Aside from Lore Olympus I am only in the Yashahime/Inuyasha, Lore Olympus is the second fandom I have ever got on!
If you could body snatch one LO character for a day, who would it be?
Definitely, Hades! Not because he is drop dead gorgeous, but I have always been attracted to the independent, quiet - type, loner characters in anime/manga! Also blue is my second favorite color soooo it worked out, haha.
What does cosplay mean to you?
Cosplay to me is an escape. A peaceful moment where I don’t have to be someone that society expects/wants me to be. It is the one time I feel I can truly be/express myself. At the same time I am able to show my love and support for the shows or books I am interested in!
Any advice for a new cosplayer out there?
Don’t be afraid to use everything and anything to help you create your cosplay. For me I didn’t always have money to buy supplies at places like Michael’s or Joann’s so I had to use what was available to me which was thrift shops and flea markets! A lot of my cosplays come from those places- I merely stitched it by hand or used props that other places were discarding and turned it into something I could use for my character! (The limit does not exist when it comes to imagination and creativity!)
