Artist Feature: Angie

Angie Silva or just @_cosmic_a on Instagram is an amateur drawer and a huge fan of Greek mythology who is used to post chibi and cartoon-inspired art.

How long have you done art? What mediums have you tried?

Since I was a child, I used to draw on kindergarten, as a shy person, it was the only way to express myself. I remember I used to draw on the walls of my house without my mother’s approbation :>

On my country is not common to find art tools, that’s why I had to improvise myself using scholar materials to practice when I was younger (anything for art :>)

When I was at school, I used to draw doodles on my notebooks (while boring classes >:D ), which helps me a lot improving my art skills and my agility

Just when I was 15 years old I had the chance to have a real art tool. I  saved enough money to buy a graphic tablet and try to learn about digital art, and well the rest is history.

How would you describe your style?

Unpredictable, pinkie, is not too chibi but not too cartoony; the scary thing is not my topic, that’s why I rather draw cute versions of everything, even if it is the cruelest character ever.

In regards to how I work, sometimes I’m used to drawing the line as clean as possible, in other cases, I’m used to sketching and clean a bit the lineart because I love the way the lines look dirty but nice.

Also, when I’m coloring I like to add textures and details that people are used to ignoring :’D ; anyway, I think it gives a special touch to the drawing.

Tell us your Lore Olympus story. What got you into Lore Olympus? What made you stay?

Did you know webtoon has Lore Olympus announcements on Youtube?  Well, I notice that in February of 2020.

I was watching some videos on youtube and then there it was, it was an announcement about Persephone talking a bit of Olympus and how she met Hades after the party. Of course,  I fall in love with the quality of Rachel’s job and I decided to give it a chance; I’ve never read a webtoon before, so I was so nervous because it was a brand new format of stories and because I hate when people change facts on greek mythology (as Hercules movie)  but also I was excited because art is amazing.

I read it and I couldn’t stop, I loved almost all characters, their personalities, their designs, the funny moments and the way Rachel talk about tabu topics; of course, there are some things I don’t like a lot, but well perfect things are not reals so thanks gods this is real.

But most importantly, thanks Lore Olympus I met a bunch of cool people who enjoy this amazing comic, it helps me a lot during the quarantine and inspires me a lot to create new stuff for my account

If you could body snatch one LO character for a day, who would it be?

That’s hard, but talking seriously, I think the best option could be dear Clotho, just imagine had access to all information about past, present and future, I wouldn’t worry about fastpass anymore, UNLIMITED KNOWLEDGE!! (just kidding)

Which Lore Olympus fan art are you most proud of and why?

Perhaps the one of the Olympus’ new power couple, drawing two characters interacting each other is not as easy as it looks, but I’m proud of what I did; sadly, people don’t like when someone does something related to Apollo (except if you are insulting him) but I can help to draw Apollo, he is so drawable

Any advice for someone looking to build their art skills?

  1. Don’t you dare to compare yourself with other artists in a destructive manner, instead of, practice a lot, not for being just like any artist, do it for AN artist

  2. Save your old arts and fails, those could inspire you to continue when you are feeling down (at least that’s what I do)

  3. Forget about numbers, focus on enjoying the experience and I promise you’ll see the change

  4. Sketch any day any time, don’t worry about how it looks, JUST SKETCH

  5. Black and white are not colors, so don’t use them as a highlighter or shadower, PLEASE NO

Who did you get on our Hades' dog character quiz? And do you agree?

CORDON BLEU? How do you know it?  Okay, before I did the test I said to myself “if I don’t get Cordon Bleu, I’ll report a mistake” but it’s okay, everything is under control :>
