Life is too short not to do the things you love.

Jessie (aka @sweetwater_doodles) is a vision therapist in Portland, Oregon. When she’s not drawing or reading Lore Olympus, she enjoys crafting, camping with her musician husband, and traveling to see friends and family.

How long have you done art?

I have been making art for as long as I can remember in some form or another! I've had phases of traditional and digital drawing, I've painted with acrylics, and I've gotten into pretty much every kind of crafting there is.

How would you describe your style?

I’ve kind of waffled between styles for a while, but at its core, I think my style is pretty soft, funny or wholesome subject matter, with bright colors and soft shading. I think what makes me different is the cute button noses ;)

Tell us your Lore Olympus story.

My very good friend introduced me to Lore Olympus in early 2019, and I was pulled in by the story, the characters and, of course, the art. I binge-read the first 70 episodes in one night! What keeps me interested is the character development, seeing characters grow and learn and change. Rachel truly is a queen!

If you could body snatch one LO character for a day, who would you be?

Oh, definitely Eros. We would have a whole self care day, face masks and sipping cocktails and shopping. He would drastically improve my wardrobe!

How has fan art changed your style or helped you grow?

I have met SO many wonderful artists in this community, and learned so much! Everyone brings something different to the table, it's so inspiring! All of the different challenges and projects have helped me think outside of the box and try new things!

Which fanart are you most proud of and why?

100% my latest depiction of Poseidon, with ample hair, beard and abs. I love this one because other than the obvious, I was able to utilize my painting skills and I loved drawing his big, goofy face.

Any advice for someone looking to build their art skills?

Just keep practicing! Ask questions, and use references!

Do you have goals or aspirations for your art?

This may be a bit far off, but it would be wonderful to be able to draw part time for a living! Life is too short not to do the things you love.

I just opened my commissions, so let me know if you have any questions or ideas!

Just for fun: Who did you get on this quiz?

Big John! And absolutely I agree!
