Eros meets his mother, Aphrodite, for lunch, a couple months before the present storyline. Aphrodite is upset that mortals claim a woman named Psyche is more beautiful than her. She asks Eros to visit the Mortal Realm and use his powers to cause Psyche to fall in love with the ugliest creature he can find. 

“Remember...I want you to make her fall in love with the ugliest creature you can find.” -Aphrodite, Ep. 13

When he arrives at the Mortal Realm, he finds a cute pig and figures that the pig will do. He lets the pig know that as long as he’s holding it, they won’t be seen or heard, and he heads into Psyche’s house.

Psyche can sense him, and Eros is completely enamored with her. He witnesses an interaction between Psyche and her mother in which Psyche learns that her father is selecting a husband for her. Her mother smacks her for asking if it’s too soon for her to marry, telling her that she should be grateful for the opportunities that her beauty affords her.

Eros grows upset as she begins to cry. He prepares his bow and arrow, hesitating as he points it towards a devastated Psyche.
